Connecting Black Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia
Black occupational therapists in Nova Scotia enrich and enhance the practice contexts they are a part of. Over tea/coffee, a connection was formed and a community of practice grew. We hope to keep our community growing and deepening in connection!
Working Alongside Youth in High School
As a part of my volunteer work with the YMCA Centre for Immigrant Programs, I support youth with forced migrant experiences plan for higher education and talk through their experiences resettling in the Canadian school system.
I am always advocating. Currently on the go: Expanding the role of OT to include work with refugee children & youth transitioning into the Canadian School System. Developing the role of OT in primary care for people with forced migrant experiences.
Building Capacity in Multi-systems
Aligned with my research and practice interests, I am available to share knowledge on forced migration, trauma responses, and their experiences within education, legal, and healthcare systems.
